Enniscorthy Chess Club ran a fund-raising chess marathon on Saturday 2nd November from 12noon to 6pm in Market Square, Enniscorthy.
Some of the fun on the day included:
- learning to play with the Enniscorthy Knights
- trying to beat our champion players
- playing giant chess
- simultaneous chess
- spot prizes
Chess Coaching started again on Tuesday 3rd of September 2013 from 6.30-8.00. This coaching session will run for an extended period of 12 weeks and will cost €70 per child plus €40 for each sibling. Coaching is now in our new venue of Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh (near Vinegar Hill).
Enniscorthy Chess Club's Players of the Year
A big congratulations to Robbie Kildea who is Enniscorthy Chess Club's top player of the year, coming in ahead in the Grand Prix standings by 3 points. Second place is Joshua Redmond, with Dean Copeland a close third.
The presentation for the top three players took place on Tuesday, September 3rd 2013 at our new venue, Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh, Enniscorthy.

Bray Rapidplay 'David and Goliath' winner 2013
Congrats to Dean Copeland on winning the 'David and Goliath' prize at the Bray Rapidplay tournament in June, after beating a player 753 points higher than himself.

Checkmate Schools Challenge 2013
Well done to the Gael Scoil Inis Córthaidh team on winning their heat to qualify for the finals of the Checkmate Schools Challenge in Limerick. They played wonderfully and finished in joint second place.
The team was made up of (l - r) Adam Copeland, Dean Copeland, Dylan Nolan and Robbie Kildea, all members of Enniscorthy Chess Club.
Robbie had a fantastic tournament, winning all six of his games to take the title of Irish Primary Schools Champion - well done Robbie!

History: Since 2003 Chess School Polimac has taught, inspired and empowered more than 1500 students in their local community.
Through structured classrooms, after-school and summer programs, we use chess as an educational tool to promote learning and to help young people to develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
Our students improve in Concentration, Self-Esteem, Logic, Language, Speech Development, Mathematical Skills and Creativity.
